Gem State Water will notify customers when this issue is resolved.

Background On November 13, 2025, customers of the Gem State-Happy Valley water system experienced an unplanned depressurization event in the local system serving their 25 homes in the area near W Hayden Ave. between N Huetter Rd and N Meyer Rd. in Rathdrum, ID.

What caused this issue? The issue occurred following an unexpected motor shut down in the well supplying this area. The issue was quickly resolved and required testing is being done to ensure the safety of local drinking water.

Is your water safe to drink? 

No, we are currently advising all customers to boil their water for one minute before drinking.  Multiple lab tests are being performed to ensure water in this area meets safety requirements. You will be notified when you no longer need to boil your water.

What should I do? 

·         Boil water for one minute before drinking/ice cubes, cooking, brushing teeth, washing food, preparing baby formula, or giving to pets.

·         You can continue to use water for washing hands, showering, washing clothes, garden/watering plants, run the dishwasher with sanitize cycle.

·         Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly.
